The Burn Institute’s Fire Safety House is a mobile teaching tool used to make fire safety education more realistic. The Burn Institute Fire Safety House (AKA La Casa Móvil Educativa de Incendios) is an actual structure where participants will learn about home fire safety in a realistic setting. There is a kitchen, living room and bedroom. It uses a non-toxic smoke to simulate an actual fire situation. The bedroom door has a heating element, which can make it warm to the touch. The bedroom also has a window and escape ladder that students learn to use if the primary exit is blocked. Participants are taught vital lessons such as “Crawl Low Under Smoke”, “Home Escape Plans”, How to Make an Emergency Call” and many other home safety tips.
