Meet London: From Camper to Counselor 

London’s journey with the Burn Institute began at the age of 12, when she attended her first camp. Nervous and unsure, she quickly found a place where she belonged—a place where she didn’t have to explain her scars or her story. The community she discovered was life-changing. 

 “Being able to be around a bunch of people that look like me and have similar stories to me meant I didn’t have to explain myself. The community was amazing.” – London 

Creating a Healing Space 

 As a counselor, London now helps foster the same supportive environment that had such a profound impact on her. She describes how the camp offers a unique space where everyone feels accepted and valued. Activities like arts and crafts bring everyone together, reinforcing the sense of belonging and shared experience. 

“Arts and crafts time was my favorite part because everyone—boys, girls, younger, older—would come together. We just wanted to spend time with each other, talking about anything and everything.” – London
