Empowering Kids with Life-Saving Fire Safety Skills
Fall in San Diego County means back-to-school time—and often, wildfires.
At the Burn Institute, we believe every child should be equipped with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and their families from the dangers of fire. That’s why our Fire Safe Kids program ensures children understand the basics of fire prevention.
The impact of this program goes beyond the classroom—it reaches into the homes and hearts of families in our community. We know that the knowledge these children gain could make all the difference for their safety and the safety of their loved ones.
One teacher at Hickman Elementary recently shared:
“The [kids] loved getting to stop, drop, and roll as well as demonstrating getting low. We realized today how many families didn’t have an emergency plan and how many kids didn’t know what to do if there was a fire. Thanks for making an educational safety assembly fun.”
Moments like these show us the true value of fire prevention education — it’s about empowering kids to take control in an emergency and help protect the ones they love.
As we face another dangerous fire season, these stories remind us that prevention is not just important—it’s life-saving.
With your help today, we can continue empowering more children with the knowledge they need to keep themselves and their families safe.
Last year, our programs reached 44,000 students, but there are still many more classrooms to visit and many more families to protect.
Your donation today helps ensure that programs like Fire Safe Kids continue to reach children across our region. Together, we will empower and educate children to make informed decisions when it matters most, because every child deserves a chance to stay safe.
Thank you for your support and your donation today!
Sincerely,
